It particularly connects with a Court of Frost and Starlight, which is almost like a prologue for it. FYI: this book would be much easier to understand if you read the previous books. But it’s still worth the investment of time, IMO. Likewise, the ending felt a little rushed. I do think parts of the book drag a bit, especially at the beginning. And I LOVE that the series switched to third-person POV. I also feel like the larger plot is moving along, with allegiances shifting and enemies joining forces. It was especially nice how the book displayed the importance of female friendship. And I enjoyed seeing the other characters again. The fantasy stuff is really fun, with exciting fights and monsters. Then she can learn to love Cassian, our hero. Nesta is emotionally troubled and the major plot is her learning to love herself. It’s a little darker than the other books, in terms of the characterizations. It is over 700 pages, so it’s a commitment to read, but it’s a good addition to the series. Also she needs to find some magical doodads.- I liked this book. Fantasy romance, M/F **4 Stars**- Nesta, the sister of the heroine from the first books, will need the help of her friends and to believe in herself, if she is going to embrace her power and embrace love.
